Make a ChangeBeing confident and secure with your body is a wonderful feeling. Regardless of your size, you should get to a point where you feel comfortable in your clothes. It helps you become a better person . . . it is one less stressful thing to have on your mind and, if you're like me, one less thing to agonize over until you've accomplished the goal. Each day I see those individuals who have reached their goal and are in the maintenance stage - they have a smile on their face and they exude a calm confidence. Although we all spend time in the "need to lose weight" or "get back on track" stage, we all know it's not a fun place to live. You know what I'm talking about - you either indulged or got off the healthy eating wagon and need to get back on it. So, if you LIVE in that stage - where you feel frustrated, have a lack of self-confidence and just can not seem to lose the weight, it's time to do something about it! I see many regulars at the gym who complain that they've been working out consistently and are the same size they were six or more months ago. If this is you, it's time to hit it hard! You have to put in the work to get the results! My husband Pat, whom most of you know, is a great example. Pat fell off that wagon . . . and that wagon rolled over him a few times before he decided to put in the extra work and commit to getting back on track. He significantly cut his sugar intake, stopped eating fried foods, and began making healthier eating choices AND he increased his workout routine all at the same time. Starting with kickboxing on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, he then started Pure Strength a few weeks ago and has lost 19 pounds!!! (Way to go, babe!) Yes, he is a man. Yes, he is going to lost the weight faster than a woman. But the point is, he DECIDED to hit it hard by changing his eating habits AND his exercise routine. If you're trying to start slow and still haven't seen results - it's time to make that same decision. It's time for you to put in the extra effort and make those changes that you KNOW you need in order to make a difference on the scale, in your clothes, or with a healthier body and mind. Keep your regular cardio routine and add some weights. Body Pump is a great class if you need the guidance with weights or if you work better in a structured class setting. Also, Pure Strength is an option. This is a strength class I lead in the mornings or afternoons and there are payment options if you are interested (email me for more info). We have men and women at various fitness stages and I can't tell you how proud I am of their progress! We have another round starting up in April and we'd love to have you join us! Whatever your motivation is, make that needed change. Eat healthy, continue your cardio work and fit in a strength workout with weights. NOW is the time! I know you can do it!!! Have a great week...;))

Super Bowl BluesWhether or not your team won this weekend may be a distant memory by now; however, if your cheat day mentality carried over into the week. . .STOP! Let this be your wake-up call to get back on that wagon. You've heard me say it before - 5 pounds turns into 10, 10 turns into 15, and before you know it you're stuck with 20 pounds you are trying desperately to lose. We convince ourselves that it's ok to indulge a little . . .and a little more. . .and. . .oh, what the hell - I've already had 2 girl scout cookies, what's one more? (I'm not speaking from personal experience or anything)...;)) It is so easy to get off course and pick up that bad habit . . . and so HARD to find the discipline to kick it. I've heard it before - when you fall off that wagon, you tell yourself that the week is almost over, so you will just start fresh next week. The best time to start eating healthy again is NOW! Valentine's day is coming up and if you don't have little, red chocolate kisses hanging out at the office now, they will be there soon enough with the rest of the candy. Enjoy a cheat meal without the guilt of unhealthy eating this week hanging over your waistline. Get back on track and I will be looking for you at the gym. Have a great week...;)) |
