Place your orders by Sept. 30

Calling all Kickboxers!

In October, I am putting in an order for kickboxing gloves. If you don't have any or need to replace a pair, now is your opportunity.
I am taking orders starting now through the end of September. The gloves are $35 and most women wear a Medium. If you're petite, like me, then you'll need a Small. If you have larger hands, then of course you will need a Large. And if you're not sure about your size, just ask me and I'll be sure to get you the right fit.
To place your order - bring me your check (made out to Margie Massey) or cash for $35 IN A SEALED ENVELOPE with your NAME & GLOVE SIZE before SEPT 30th.

Have a great week...:))

Fresh Start

Each new school year brings an opportunity for a fresh start.  Buying school supplies and getting organized before the chaos hits always feels great!  It's the calm before the storm of millions of papers start flying around, the assignments start piling up, talk of pop quizzes, school activities and sports schedules take over.  It's before "THIS year, I'm going to get ahead of the game" falls through and you find yourself playing catch up.
Don't get caught in this whirlwind of chaos - especially when that means leaving yourself behind.  The end of summer brings a craziness all its own and it's time to get back on track!!!  If you've missed the gym and have been looking over the not-so-good calories, then get ahead of the game - and STAY on top of it.  Each day, remind yourself of your priorities - your family, of course, and YOU - your health.  Because we all know if you fall apart, so will everything else.  Have a daily mantra, repeat it to yourself first thing in the morning and follow through.  If you have set aside that calorie counter, it's time to dust it off, reset it, and put it back to use - you may not need it forever, but use it to help keep you honest and on the right nutritional path.  I know you can do it!!!
We all have lives and hectic schedules, if you convince yourself that you're too busy now, then you've just made it that much harder on you AND your body.  When you start thinking about your day and begin feeling overwhelmed, know that you are not alone . . . and you won't be alone at the gym either!  There are plenty of other people with their own challenges - some bigger and some smaller than yours - but they are there, and you should be there too!  Make it a priority in your life.  Make an appointment with the gym and healthy eating habits and KEEP IT!  See you soon, I'll be expecting you.

Have a great week...:))

Back to School Countdown

The countdown has begun!  The end of summer is steadily approaching and we are all trying to get in that last bit of fun while shopping the back to school sales.  It's easy to get consumed by all the errands, the quick trips, forgot that, have to pick this up on the way home . . . and so on.  In between all this  - and I know there is no 'in between' unless you make it happen - please be sure to make time for yourself.  And I'm not talking about a pedicure, sister...;))
It is so easy to take the easy road, particularly when life becomes hectic.   I realize the road you're on right now isn't necessarily 'easy' - but you know what I'm getting at.  Are you the type of person to make the extra effort to fit in your workout?  Or, are you the type of person who throws your hands in the air and convinces yourself that you can not fit in one more thing?  Do yourself a favor and make that extra effort!  Schedule time for you, call a friend for encouragement if you need to, and get in a good 45 minute workout.
If your body is used to working out 4 or 5 times a week and you stop . . . you're body will slow down, and we all know playing catch-up isn't easy.  With 45 minutes of exercise - you keep your metabolism going, you feel more energetic, your skin gets the clarifying effects it needs, and you get the added bonus of stress relief!  Who doesn't need that?!  How much time do you spend driving back and forth between  stores and back again because you forgot something?  Time at the gym often gives us mental clarity, while we reduce our stress, we can think about our day and organize time more efficiently.  And at the end of the day, you will feel more relaxed . . . and you won't have that lingering guilt from a skipped workout.
We all have a lot going on right now, just be sure you try your best to make that extra effort to fit in some exercise.  I realize it can't happen EVERY day, but it probably can most days...:))

Have a great week...:))

Wait . . . What?

A few comments last week caught me off guard . . . and they stuck with me enough that I wanted to write about it in today's blog.  It's one of those things that you can't control, and I know that.  But on the other hand - to those who come to my classes, support the causes I support, stay to chat with me after class (even though I often run out of time), and follow me from gym to gym - I want you to know how much I appreciate you.  We each have our own relationship and how we relate to one another is completely different from the way I may relate to the person standing right next to you in class.

In general, I think we would all agree that I am very approachable.  When I am not teaching back to back classes or running off to a client, it's pretty safe to say that you'll find me standing outside the class chatting with people.  There is always someone asking for help with their diet, another who needs guidance with their workout routine, someone sharing a weight loss story, and others who need a light motivational push (or shove)...:))  And as I get to know people, how I respond to them - in class and out - is different.

Not long ago, a class regular (and friend) asked me to really push her in the coming months.  She is the type of person who needs (and asked for) tough love.  My point is that if you're sitting on the outside of this relationship and you don't know her,  then you'd probably think I'm being too tough on her.  But if you don't stay long enough after class to hear her say 'thank you for that' or the 4 other people standing around saying - 'can you do that with me?' - then you have totally misinterpreted that exchange.

So, I guess it just comes down to how well you know someone.  Because if you knew me . . . then you should know better.  You know better than anyone, that I have a very intense passion for what I do.  You know that while I try to give each and every person in class my focus, it is not humanly possible to get to each and every person 100% of the time . . . even though you know how hard I try.  And most of all, you know that if you - or anyone else - asks me to help them in a certain way, I will do my best to push them to their fitness goals in whatever way works best for them.  So to those who do know me, thank you for your understanding and support...:))

On another note - I want to thank all of my regulars for their patience with the pads!  I know you understand how difficult it is for me to fit everyone in and keep track of it all in an effort to keep people even.  We have a lot of new people who I've been introducing to pads, little by little.  So, thanks again for your support and understanding!  I may miss a lot of my regulars, but if you're coming to class consistently, then you know I'll eventually catch you up...:))

Have a great week...:))
